CMS Flexibility
When we work on a new project with a client, we ascertain what fields are
standard within their requirements and whether the users are likely to have
an understanding of HTML, or just want to copy and past from other sources. This
allows us to determine how restrictive or felxible your CMS needs to be.
If you install an off-the-shelf CMS, then you will be faced with a huge
variety of options and detail to fill in every time you want to publish a new
page of content. This may suit your business, but for many it means learning yet
another tool that adds nothing to your core business competencies.
Some CMSs are incredibly simple: A space for the title
and a bigger space to paste a Word document into. At this basic level, all other
options can be hidden or removed so that the task can be delegated to anyone who
can use a keyboard and mouse.
Other CMS are, by necesity much more compliacated, including image uploads,
related file downloads, publish date, unpublish date, approval status and many
details that may be specific to your business, such as taxonomy classification,
competitor information and the like.
Whatever your requirements, it is likely that we have encountered them
before, so can help you through the decision process and produce a CMS that is
engineered to match your requirements perfectly.
