Content Management SEO

Content Management Systems are great tools when used properly, but many have so much additional code on the page that Google and other search engines give up before they get to the actual content you are trying to make available. This process of optimising your pages to rank better in search engines, known as Search Engine Optimisation (SEO ) is a big business, but there are many pitfalls to be wary of.

SEO is an ever changing field, and completely at the mercy of how the search engines are currently deciding which sites get which positions. As these processes change, different optimisation techniques come into play, and sites that once ranked low can shoot up hundreds of positions. Likewise, well-ranked sites can drop like a stone.

Our CMSs are built with SEO in mind from the ground up. We allow our clients to have complete control over the page content, the page names, the page titles and the special tags used by Google, Yahoo and MSN to index and describe your site. We don't charge anything extra for this functionality - we have built our system from the ground up to operate in this way, so simply by following some well understood rules about what and what isn't currently permissible will ensure that your site achieves the best position it can.

Please contact us today if you want to ensure that your business appears as high in the search engines for your chosen search terms.

We can work with you to implement our CMS platform for you to manage on an ongoing basis for a one-off cost, or we can manage the whole process for you on an ongoing monthly basis, to ensure that your site stays relevent within the search engines.

Basic Setup

The basic setup for one of our custom CMSs is a database, a suite of administration pages and a number of front end templates to display your content. As all of these are custom built to your eaxct requirements, they can cover as little or as much as you like. Do bear in mind the ongoing maintenance issues, however. If you over-complicate your system from day one, then you might not get as much use out of it as you may like.

Quick, Remote Access

Our CMSs are suitable for hosting on public facing servers, allowing you to add to or update your content from any Internet connection. With the right setup this can even include your mobile phone or PDA over a cell phone data connection or a WiFi hotspot.

Long Tail Keywords

Anyone who has read about SEO knows that keywords are important; after all they are what people actually search for. Aren't they? Well yes, and no. About half of all searches are for the kind of things you would expect: Sports, gadgets, music, etc., but as each search engine only has a limited number of slots available for search results on the first page, it can be extremely difficult to get listed high up. But what about the other half of results? These are known as the Long Tail...

Approximately half of all searches are for very specific terms of five words or more, and make up this Long Tail. There are obviously many of these (hence the Long), and are best utilised on a web site when you are able to freely create content, and page names etc. An example of a keyword is golf. An example of a Long Tail keyword is public golf courses in Sussex. With the ability to update content and create new content whenever you like, you will be able to ensure that you have them covered.

RSS Feeds

Many of our CMSs also have RSS feeds for the different content sections which allow users to ensure that they know when new content is added to the site. This functionality can be built-in as standard, and will just work, so that the site administrator never has to worry about feeds - they just work.
