Managing
Director
Steve has followed the Internet from the late 80s, after using
packet switched networks, and later Gopher and Cello. With the dawn of Mosaic
(the first graphical web browser), Steve clinched a book deal with ZD Press and wrote
the first book to be published about the World Wide Web - The Internet
via Mosaic and World Wide Web (1994, ZD Press, ISBN:
1562762591).
Steve has spent a large part of his career working in
highly technical environments: Labs Manager PC Magazine , Labs Director EMAP
Labs (PC User, Network week, LAN Magazine, Internet Magazine),
and Internet Development Manager for Compuserve UK. During that time, as well
as writing a book, Steve created the first Web Server benchmark software,
created Internet Magazine's first fully automated ISP tests and created Europe's
first price comparison website (DVD Update). Since starting Quick Web Ltd in 1998, Steve has worked on a large number of projects for various clients.
Still a hands-on operative, Steve works closely with James to ensure that all
projects are up to the high standards that our clients have come to associate
with the Quick Web name.
Steve also has an occasional blog that he updates with non work related
topics: www.stevebrowne.com
